Westside “My City”
Westside publications is an initiative that BYDS has undertaken over the last ten years. They have followed in the footsteps of two other highly successful publications: ‘Call it Black’ and “Please Explain”
BYDS’ blogger Filip Stempien is now accepting submissions for our next Westside anthology on the theme “My City”.
The opportunity has opened up for people to submit fiction or non-fiction work in any form e.g. poetry, prose, song lyrics, essays etc. We are also keen to receive illustrations, essays, comics, etc. on the theme.

Mapping Frictions – Radio Workshops
Fbi Radios’ All the Best and Mapping Frictions: Stories from Western Sydney website have teamed up for a special focus to put together the very best of stories from the south western suburbs. This is an opportunity to have some of the best young creative’ s working with you to have your story heard on multiple platforms.
We will be holding training sessions to develop radio skills and learn how to make strong audio stories and develop story pitches. The stories will be aired on radio and featured as part of mapping frictions website series.
We are looking at the theme of ‘Outskirts’, things that belong on the perimeters.
We have limited capacity for the first session so get in quick, by sending your expression of interest with your age, contact details and have an outline for a story idea you would like to work on. Workshops will be held at the Bankstown Arts Centre. To register your interest email info(at)byds.org.au. Dates are TBC.
