Bankstown, Western Sydney
Outloud is proudly based on Darug land in Bankstown, Western Sydney – one of Australia’s most culturally, linguistically, and religiously diverse communities.
Our community represents 120+ nationalities and speaks 200+ languages. 60% of people who live here speak a language other than English at home. 47% of people were born overseas, and 16% have arrived in Australia after 2011. 21% of households are couples with young children (Australian Census 2016).

Our calendar is filled with different celebrations and observances from our community. We follow the lunar new year dragon up Saigon Plaza and share Iftar meals in Ramadan. We cheer when we see the first purple jacaranda blooms, and we learn the Darug words for the birds and animals that visit the Bankstown Arts Centre.
We are a young and creative community – 54% of our electorate (Blaxland) is aged under 34 years, and 96% of children aged 5-14 participate in creative activities.
