General Manager, Outloud
Outloud is a not-for-profit youth arts organisation that works with the local community in Bankstown, Sydney. We provide holistic support to young artists throughout their creative journey, from their first exposure to the arts and well into their career development.
Outloud is a youthful, dynamic workplace that serves its local creative community. We are a tight knit team and we look out for each other. Our General Manager oversees the organisation’s operations and sets the tone and direction for the team’s outputs so that ultimately the young people, artists and partners we work with have an outstanding experience.
The General Manager will actively steer Outloud towards growth, continuous improvement, and exemplary governance by collaborating closely with the Artistic Director+CEO. In day-to-day operations, the General Manager will also work closely with Outloud’s Creative Producer and Finance Officer.
Penrith City Councils Community Resilience Team
Aboriginal Community Resilience Officer: This fairly new role sits within our Community Capacity Program. We are looking for an Aboriginal identified community worker early in their career (new graduate or studying). In their first year this energetic, curious and savvy person will support our officers across the Community Capacity Program while also connecting with strategic and stakeholder work led by our Senior Policy Officer – Aboriginal. As they develop relationships with the community, we anticipate this person will pitch their ideas for projects they wish to lead with the community, and we will support them to build their own portfolio of projects. - Administration Officer: Writing NSW is looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Administration Officer to provide financial and general administrative support for our exciting and diverse programs.Working closely with the Membership & Operations Coordinator and the CEO, you will carry out day-to-day financial administration, provide support for member programs and services, respond to public inquiries, administer databases, coordinate venue bookings, organise caretaker and volunteer rosters, assist with events and other activities, and undertake other tasks as required. - Artistic Operations Coordinator: We are seeking someone with experience in technical, operations and production, in the arts and music. Working closely with our CEO & Artistic Director and our General Manager, the position will be responsible for coordinating the production, touring and operational activities of Ensemble Offspring to meet EO’s artistic and strategic objectives. Grants, scholarships and prizes
- Hornsby Art Prize 2023: Entries for the Hornsby Art Prize are now open to all visual artists, aged over 18, living in Australia. The overall prize pool is $23,000 and first prize is $10,000. Closing date: Sep 5, 2023.
- Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize: Held every two years, this prestigious acquisitive cash prize attracts some of Australia’s most accomplished artists, awarding a generous cash prize of $50,000. The Prize provides Bendigo Art Gallery with the opportunity to survey contemporary painting by established and emerging artists from across Australia. Works from the shortlisted artists are on display during the Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize 2023 exhibition from November 2023 – February 2024. Closing date: Aug 25, 2023.
- The Pearl Prize 2024 Writers Award: The Pearl Prize is presented with Osborne and Fawkner Publishing and supported by Midsumma Festival. A writing award where Queer writers have a platform for self-expression through the writing landscape and into publication. Writers can submit writing in any form of prose or poetry to a literary panel and begin their journey in the Australian writing scene. 15 finalists will be selected and published and the winner of the Pearl Prize announced during Midsumma Festival 2024 at two Melbourne bookstores. The publication will be released during Midsumma Festival and available to purchase. The Pearl Prize 2024 is proudly part of Midsumma Festival’s A Brave(R) Space arts programming. Submissions Close: Thursday 11.59pm August 31st 2023.
- Newcastle Club Foundation Art Prize 2023: Topographies of space and place: Artists who have an association with the Hunter Region of NSW are invited to enter this prestigious annual painting prize offered by the Newcastle Club Foundation. The total prize pool is $15,000 and includes an $11,000 acquisitive prize, a $1000 members’ choice prize and two $1000 fresh talent awards. The theme for 2023, topographies of space and place, encompasses the features that mould a specific setting and make it distinctive – the mountains, valleys, rivers, beaches, buildings and streets. The prize invites artists to explore the relationship between the environment we inhabit and the spatial dimensions that shape our perceptions. Closing date: Aug 25, 2023.
- Maritime Art Prize & Exhibition 2023: Artists are invited to submit their entries for the Maritime Art Prize and Exhibition 2023, Australia’s premier award for maritime art, presented by the Mission to Seafarers Victoria. The substantial prize pool of $25,000 will be awarded across four categories, including the main MSC Maritime Art Prize of $15,000, the Best in Traditional Maritime Art of $5,000, the Runner-Up Award of $2,000, the Port of Melbourne Emerging Artist Award of $1,000, and the Viewers’ Choice award of $2,000. Entries Close: 8 September 2023, 5:00pm AEST.
- Georges River Art Prize: The Georges River Art Prize is a biennial art prize that provides an opportunity for artists from all over Australia to display their best work. There are categories for painting and sculptural work, children and youth, and local artists. The Georges River Art Prize is hosted by Hurstville Museum & Gallery and the Clive James Library and Service Centre, Kogarah, and offers $20,000 in prize money. Closing date: Aug 25, 2023.
- Ellenbrook Art Award 2023: The Ellenbrook Art Award is a non-acquisitive art prize inaugurated in 2015 and now in its ninth year. The award is open to all Western Australian artists, 14 yo and older, aiming to promote, nurture and cultivate excellence in the visual arts for the Ellenbrook community. Closing date: Aug 15, 2023.
- Urunga Small Sculpture Prize: Established in 2018 the Urunga Small Sculpture Prize is a regional award for small sculpture, presented by the Urunga Business and Community Chamber, and the Urunga Art Space. Closing Date: Aug 16, 2023.
- Canberra Contemporary Photographic Prize: We are delighted to announce the launch of the inaugural PhotoAccess Canberra Contemporary Photographic Prize, this award aims to celebrate the most innovative and ground-breaking contemporary photography within Australia and internationally. The competition encourages entries that speak to contemporary culture and seek to challenge conventional ideas surrounding the photographic medium. Closing Date: Aug 10, 2023.

- A New Arts, Culture and Creative Industries Policy for NSW: The NSW Government is working toward the development of the state’s first-ever Arts, Culture and Creative Industries Policy. They have released a discussion paper, A New Look at Culture, to guide conversations that will inform the development of the policy. Create NSW invites you to join the Hon. The Amplify Pride Fund: The Amplify Pride Fund exists to support LGBTIQ+ organisations across the country to thrive and grow. It is a new national LGBTIQ+ fund created in 2022 by GiveOUT and Aurora with support from the Snow Foundation. The Amplify Pride Fund will provide LGBTIQ+ organisations across Australia with larger, more sustainable funding. If we are to tackle the challenges and barriers still facing vulnerable members of our community—poorer mental health, isolation, homelessness, and social and economic marginalisation—we need to adequately resource and increase the capacity of our LGBTIQ+ organisations. If you think your organisation or project aligns with the granting guidelines, please complete the expression of interest form by midnight 25 August 2023
Australia Council of the Arts have announced the following grant opportunities:
- International Touring and Presentation Fund: This fund supports international touring, showcasing and presentation opportunities for Australian artists and creative workers. Tours, showcases and presentations can take place in-person, online, or in a combination of in-person and online (hybrid). Individuals, groups and organisations (including small businesses) may apply to this category. International organisations that are presenting Australian artists or creative workers are also eligible to apply. Applicants can propose a single event, presentation or showcase or a program of activity in multiple locations. The activities you are applying for through this fund must be fully confirmed. Closing dates:
- Tuesday 19 September 2023 at 3pm AEST, for projects beginning after 1 January 2024.
- Tuesday 6 February 2024 at 3pm AEDT, for projects beginning after 1 June 2024.
- International Engagement Fund: This fund supports Australian artists and creative workers to undertake creative collaboration and development; cultural exchange and knowledge sharing; research, experimentation, scoping and prototyping activities; and reciprocal relationship-building activities such as residency exchanges, labs and peer exchange models. Activities can take place in-person, online, or in a combination of in-person and online (hybrid). International organisations working with Australian artists or creative workers are eligible to apply. Closing dates:
- Tuesday 19 September 2023 at 3pm AEST, for projects beginning after 1 January 2024.
- Tuesday 6 February 2024 at 3pm AEDT, for projects beginning after 1 June 2024.
- International Travel Fund: This fund supports Australian artists and creative workers to travel to attend international market development or cultural exchange platforms or key gatherings overseas. Eligible applicants include Australian artists, producers, curators, music industry representatives, and presenters. Applicants can propose attendance at a single market development or cultural exchange platform or key gathering, or a program of events across multiple locations. Closing dates:
- Tuesday 19 September 2023 at 3pm AEST, for projects beginning after 1 January 2024.
- Tuesday 6 February 2024 at 3pm AEDT, for projects beginning after 1 June 2024.
- Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups: This program funds a range of activities that deliver benefits to the arts sector and wider public, including national and international audiences and communities. Grants are available from $10,000 to $50,000. Supported activities must not last longer than two years from the proposed start date.
