Outloud presents “About Us”
Jump to:
What is it?
A series of 10 live, online performances and conversations by artists from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds currently living and/or working in Sydney’s western suburbs.
What is the “why”?
“The project was co-curated with the cultural communities from western Sydney through a call out where people could nominate a text that they felt started a conversation about their culture that was worth having. There’s over 120 cultures living in Canterbury Bankstown and we wanted to talk about how Covid has affected how we meet, how we look after each other, and how we can support each other from here. The idea is that following a reading of those stories, we’ll have a facilitated conversation about the text, and talking about ourselves and each other, both here and in our home countries, we’ll feel closer and more connected, even if we’re still doing a lot of our gathering online.” – Finn O’Branagáin (she/her), Outloud Artistic Director and CEO

TROJAN WOMEN
Directed by James Hartley

Until that damned wooden horse, the walls of Troy held strong for 10 years of war. In this reimagining of the infamous Greek myth, The Trojan Women finds new resonance in a Persian setting. For this performance, the creative team and cast will be reading an edited selection of the text followed by a moderated discussion. Recommended for 15 years and over. Content trigger warning: violence against women, suicidality, infanticide, war. Written by Dena Razaghi with translation by Gholamreza Shahbazi. Performed in Farsi
