Looking for Muslim Peers Project? This program has expanded to MPP to meet the growing and diverse needs of our community.
The support you need. Multicultural Peers Project strives to create a culturally relevant, emotionally-safe environment where young people can find the support they need, build meaningful connections while celebrating their identities with pride & dignity.
What is the Multicultural Peers Project (MPP)?
Multicultural Peers Project (MPP) is dedicated to providing inclusive mental health & community support to queer & trans youth from Middle Eastern, North African, South Asian, & Muslim communities in NSW. We are determined to address a gap in services and offer culturally relevant, emotionally safe environments from 1:1 support, community gatherings, peer support, creative workshops and more. As a peer-led service, MPP is driven by people & mental health professionals who come from the communities we serve, creating an environment of shared understanding & trust.
What does MPP offer?
MPP provides diverse modalities and programming to meet the needs of our dynamic and expansive communities. Here are a few things we offer:
- Peer support and counselling: for people aged 14-25 to receive mental health support in person over the phone & online.
- Crisis Support: including case management, housing transition, grocery vouchers
- Queer safe cultural events: private, safe and accessible from Iftars, Diwali, poetry readings, picnics and more. Allies and loved ones welcome
- Creative Therapies and cultural workshops: trauma-informed creative spaces to foster wellbeing and self-expression
- Online resources and communication: using our digital platform for referrals, as well as sharing info on psycho-education cultural events, resilience resources
All our offerings are underpinned by our MPP cultural values and undergo detailed risk assessment and community feedback processes
